American University of Bahrain

The American University of Bahrain (AUBH) will open its doors this September to offer higher education based on an innovative, American-style curriculum. The University, located in Riffa, uses a holistic approach to learning that promotes intellectual inquiry, ethical behavior, and both social and civic responsibility.

AUBH’s approach to learning is unique to the GCC region. The curriculum engages students with academic knowledge and technical skills so that they become highly competitive and sought-after professionals. It also provides students with critical professional and behavioral skills to excel in the world as confident, innovative, motivated, and socially-aware citizens.

The University currently offers four-year undergraduate programs and internationally-recognized degrees:

Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA) in Finance

Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA)  in Management

Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA)  in Hospitality Management

Bachelor of Science (BSc) in Computer Engineering

Bachelor of Science (BSc)  in Industrial Engineering

Bachelor of Science (BSc)  in Multimedia Design

Courses are tailored to meet the demands of the international workforce and to enable students to pursue their advanced education credentials with institutions from across the world.  AUBH has plans to offer several new degree programs in 2020.

Dr. Susan E. Saxton, an accomplished leader who has spent more than 25 years in academia, is the Inaugural President of the American University of Bahrain. AUBH has engaged the very best international and local educators, all selected for their subject matter expertise, student focus, and passion for research. The high-caliber faculty is skilled in encouraging student participation and fostering creativity and innovation through engaging and collaborative teaching techniques. Faculty also monitor academic progress with personalized attention, mentorship, and guidance.

AUBH boasts a brand-new state-of-the-art campus that will open in Fall 2019. The campus was designed to foster interaction and collaboration among students, faculty, and the community. Facilities mirror those found in the best and most innovative U.S. universities and feature modern structures that house high-tech lecture halls and classrooms, an extensive library, fully-equipped labs, a grand auditorium, and sports facilities. The campus features open green spaces and a wealth of social and communal areas that host cultural and entertainment events as well as social and extra-curricular activities which enhance the student experience.

The University’s plans to engage with the community and to establish cooperative agreements with businesses, industry, and other academic institutions are already underway. In addition to exploring new methods to exchange knowledge, AUBH’s community and business engagement also provides opportunities for student internships, which further enhance innovative and entrepreneurial programs for students.

The tuition fee for the preparatory program (including English language tutoring) is BD 3,050 per semester. The tuition fee for the undergraduate program is up to BD 3,600 per semester. Scholarships are available to students who have competitive backgrounds. Applicants must have completed a secondary (high) school education or the equivalent of 12 years of certified schooling. When applying, students are required to provide a Statement of Graduation / Secondary School General Certificate and an IELTS or TOEFL score.
